CHEERIOS.
Why, you ask?
Because my son loves them--he loves to eat them and he has recently demonstrated his love for dropping them on the floor. (Insert song & dance about the toddler years)
And, right now at this very moment I found a dried up cheerio mushed into my pants.
Yum.
So with that introduction...
Today I am sending a big thank you card to the man who invented FANS.
Electric ones.
Electric fans that are on tall stands.
And that oscillate, spreading the sweetly fanned air from one side of the room to the other, leaving no toes too warm and no foreheads too sweaty.
'Cuz you know how I hate warm toes and sweaty foreheads.
Don't you?
We purchased a nice "Aloha Breeze" blowing fan last week & have had it turned on it ever since. We are still debating whether the fan truly blows Hawaiian breezes (we wouldn't know, since we've never been to Hawaii), but we are grateful for the definite cool-ness it adds to our home.
And more specifically, our bedroom (which must somehow be facing east and west because it seems to get a steady stream of sunlight and heat all day long). The added benefit in having it aloha breezin' in our room at night time is that it *mostly* drowns out the competing choirs* of frogs, ducks, and some other noise-making-creature in the "pond" right outside our window.
It's a win-win-win.
Cool breezes to beat the summer heat**, comfortable toes & foreheads for happy sleeping people, and a muffler for the party-in-the-pond ruckus.
Thank you, Mr. Makes Awesome Aloha Breezin' Fans.
*I'm not kidding. You would not believe the decible levels of these frogs, ducks, & whatever-else-is-out-there (do snakes sing too?). It's obnoxiously loud. And our window is just FEET away from the event. Thankfully most of the choirs go to sleep around 1am, so we only have to hear the ones that are too drunk to realize what time it is.
**I know all of our friends & family in TN and KY have been dealing with killer heat & humidity. I'm sorry to complain about ours. I'm a wimp. AND this has been the hottest week of the year so far (90's with 90% humidity). Again, I'm a wimp. I wish an Aloha Breezin' fan for each of you. Happy Summer!

yes - the 90's have been a pleasant thought unpleasant welcome. We are heading North tomorrow and the further north in Michigan you go, the cooler it gets. We will enjoy temps in the 70's and 80's. But since we are camping - we will also have the choir serenading us to sleep at night.
I think it's every child's 'right of passage' to thoroughly enjoy and explore the world of Cheerios.
The temp on a bank's marquee this afternoon at 4:30 said 101 degrees. And it's not even July.
Our downstairs unit is KAPUT and it will take a while to get all the baby steps done on our new super duper water cooler unit..probably in the fall sometime, especially since we will be gone so much! So dad bought ...5 fans this morning and a window unit. He wants me cool. We put one at the top of the stairs, one in the hall, one will go in Spencer's room...well some might go back to the store! FANS ARE AMAZING!
