Thursday

Thankful Thursday: October 22nd

Last Thursday in Boston...Today's Thursday in Wisconsin:
Aren't vacations, the best?

They are the best, just by definition. So says me.

Be watching for a report on the awesomeness of the trip on the family blog.

Even within the best of the best...there must needs be opposition.

Opposition in the best of vacations, you ask?

Lemme break it down:

1. Getting a cold (which always punch me with full force)
2. Graciously sharing my cold with the J toddler (and, the pregnant hostess sis-in-law of mine)
3. Flying on 4 100% full capacity flights with a lap child

Now. Lest you are confused..."I thought she was going to share happy, thankful thoughts..."

All thanks do not start in happy places.

Some thanks begin with a dizzy head and sore throat
...wherein my generous sis-in-law makes me several soothing mugs of herbal tea
Thank you, Jen!

Some thanks begin with descending on a happy home for a week
...wherein my darling nephew shares his toys, baby things, and snacks with cousin J
Thank you, Ian!

Some thanks begin with new foods that cause allergic reactions*
...wherein a very kind neighbor offers advice, tips, and egg-free comfort food
Thank you, Neighbor Meghan!

Some thanks begin with the damage done by my own offspring
...wherein my understanding brother doesn't get mad when a page gets ripped
Thank you, Joe!

Some thanks begin with my tearful response to the security agent who insisted I would have to take my sleeping, sick baby out of his car seat
...wherein a fellow shoe-less traveler offered to help in every possible way
Thank you Mr. Travelling To Apply For Med School! May your receipt of acceptance letters be overflowing.

Some thanks begin with being the only person on the plane that no one wants to sit beside
...wherein a Mormon Mama just happens to choose me as her airplane neighbor
Thank you Mrs. Denver!

Some thanks begin with flight delays and crazy layovers
...wherein two separate (but similar) situations introduce me to new flying Mama friends who are beyond helpful along the way
Thank you, Georgiana & Luciana!

And finally, some thanks begin with driving a total of 6 hours to get me to and from the airport (twice= 12 hrs)
...wherein my darling Mr. does it all (and more!) with a smile
Thank you, My Love!

So, the moral of the story is:

There will always be opposition to the best parts of life,
and in the opposition there will be angels
who are put in place to ease the pain of the hard parts.
I prayed for angels in my path, and they were sent my way.
I am thankful to Heavenly Father who is mindful of my concerns and worries,
and who helps me watch for the miracles along the way.

*J is allergic to eggs, but the allergy is changing as we go...where some foods were once ok, now are not. *sigh*
