Saturday

When It's The First Saturday of the Month

This morning Trevor woke the boys up at 8:30 am. They jumped up, got dressed at lightening speed and headed down the stairs (Miss N was invited but decided some extra ZZzzs were in order), and were ready before Trevor finished getting dressed.

The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot hosts a kids workshop. We discovered the event when we lived in Minnesota (and HD was only 5 minutes away, which was dreamy--but that was then and this is now, right? right. *grumbles about having to drive 15-20 minutes to get most places*) and it has been such a fun memory making event for Daddy & the kids (obviously any parent/caretaker can take the kids and I have been at least once before but it's been a fun thing for him to do just with them).

The kids get special bright orange aprons, they put their names on them, and at EVERY workshop, they 1) build something, and 2) get a pin that tells what they made to add to their project aprons. The event is free, and pretty much the best thing ever for the kids, and despite the many hammers going at once & the paint sloshing all around--Trevor takes advantage of the opportunity to strengthen his relationship with his little builders.

Miss N finally escaped the coziness of her bed and climbed into mine. She cuddled up on Dad's pillow and soon we heard the chirps of our littlest bird, Miss A. She joined us with her charming smile and we all giggled and snuggled under the white blankets.

By the time the apron-toting brothers got home, the sisters & I were busy in the kitchen (should have worn aprons) making pancakes for all of us to enjoy a tasty brunch. The Home Depot crew were so excited to show us their craft and even brought home supplies for Miss N to build her very own helicopter--brilliant. With our forks full of pancakes and helicopters to admire, it was the perfect start to this sunny Saturday.

Every day in November!  NaBloPoMo: National Blog Posting Month. Write a post on your blog every day in November. After a really massive break in my blogging, this will be the 4th year (not in a row, clearly), I've decided to tackle this challenge & enjoy the opportunity to switch to writing mode. I  have actually been looking forward to this for awhile--because I really do enjoy writing and don't make time to do it enough! Want to join me? Leave your blog link in the comments so I can follow you too! Or not. Does anyone follow blogs anymore?
